My left upper arm deltoid area is always strained and sore when i move it in a certain ways. Does anyone know what this could be? Could it be serious?

If you reach up to adjust the rear view mirror, does it hurt? If motions like that hurt, could be rotator cuff. Check with the Doc.

it doesn't hurt when i do the rear view mirror thing, it's my left arm not my right.... sometimes it's worse then others. i can't do shoulder presses and stuff cause it hurts that side or my arm.

It may not be related steven, but take an objective look at your workouts and try and pin down when you're putting the most strain on that muscle. I've found a couple of times that pec machines can cause some deltoid problems, particularly if you don't focus on working the pecs. The delts can take charge of the movement and the result can be what you're feeling.
