im just starting a program and im wodering what weight i should use. im not sure if i should increase the weight as i go to the next set or start with a heavy weight and then decrease. any comments would be appreciated.
Secondly, Have you filed in your profile. FT.com will tell what to do with your weights and the exercises to do with them. If you feel you are progressing then the weights will seem lighter. This is also an indication that its time to load on a little more weight.
I don't think Ft is going to tell you what weight to use, you are going to have to figure out what you can handle. I do my first set with a lighter weight than the other sets. I kind of picture it like I am telling those muscles "OK boys.. get ready" then I do my next set good and heavy. After these two sets I know that my next set will be lower in reps because I'm getting close to faliure so I go ahead and pile it on inorder to achive failure (failure is what you are looking for) if I don't hit falure within 8-10 reps I do another set with the same weight. If for some reason I can still do 10 reps I am lifting to light. This is how I do it and it works for me. There are a few exercises where I don't increase weight during the sets except in between the first and second set. Most of my back exercises are examples because if I strain my back I'm down for awhile
