Hi guys i usually either do my cardio in the AM and go to the gym at night, or ill weightlift then do my cardio right afterwards. I hear that its better to weightlift first because you use your glycogen for that then go into fat burning for your cardioand/or your tired from the cardio so your not usuing all your power for weightlifting. I could have heard wrong im not totally sure. but today is kinda eh outside and i wanted to get my running done as soon as i get out of work before it gets dark and stuff that i would probably do around 5 ish then go to the gym at like 745pm would that be ok or should i just not go running tonight? Also should my legs get very tired b/c i did legs last night so should i give my muscles a day to rest?

Muscle needs rest to grow. Cardio before or cardio after is really a personal preference. Whatever works best for you. Everyone is different. Good Luck

Give your legs a rest. I personally do my cardio before I lift with the exception of leg day. I do 45 minutes of cardio 2-3 times per week on an interval level 6. I have not had any negative or reverse effects on my lifts. But like I said its a personal choice.Good Luck

Doing cardio in the morning and lifting in the afternoon/evening isn't the same as doing it right before. I personally have experimented and kept a log and found that I have better results if I do cardio after or separate from weights. I found that even doing cardio the day before leg day will affect my workout. But like bowers said everyone has to do what works for them. But I would say try it both ways and document your results.

AZ is dead on on this one, & when it comes to training legs the key is to listen to your body, if you feel like your legs are tired let them rest, recovery is the key to progression. As far as muscle glycogen is concerned consider this, It can take many hours for muscle glycogen to be replenished & not letting them do so is detrimental to the traininig session. therefore it is best when training twice a day to allow at lest 6 hours in between sessions.

i weightlift different muscle groups 5 times a week. immeditaly afterwards, i run for 25 minutes 5 days a week right after i weight lift. on certain days, without taking away from my workout schedule after my workout, i swim laps for thirty minutes. and rest on weekends. i have been doin this for 7 weeks now. i use to do cardio before weightlifting. i find i like running afterwards.
