I have too many food and desert cravings. What should I do to stop that?

Hey Angelspy,

I have the same problem in the dessert cravings. If I don't have something sweet after dinner, I just crave more food. Now I have a couple pieces of red licorice afterwards which stops it. They are low in fat but high in calories but it's better than eating the chocolate cake.

Try chewing a peice of gum. That always kills my cravings for something sweet after meals and in the evenings.

I know what you mean...there is this lady in the office who keeps a jar full of miniature candy bars and chocolates. And this happens at work. Im usually good in the morning but in the afternoon... i rail that thing...haha i used to be say on this post to people with problems with cravings...just stop, but it is HARD!!! everyday i come in with the intention and say to myself.. your not having any candy today...but i end up over there anyways.... haha

I found a book called :stop your cravings and basically their angle was to keep your blood sugar in check and eat lots of fiber. and i was able to do it for almost a month (ok derailed by bday cake--i'm human) but it was v. interesting. normally i am looking for sugar fixes daily. and I felt great and i didn't have cravings for almost a month. may be something to check out.

Knowing there is a difference between need and want is one thing...only when one can control such things are goals reached.

I think it is a 'woman thing'. That craving for something sweet or chocolate in the afternoon. I'm sure there is a scientific explanation. That is the time when I have my 'one a day' protein bar. I know a lot of people say they are just like candy, but at least they have some protein and lower amounts of fat. I keep Balance, Zone or Geni-Soy bars on hand for that mid-afternoon binge. It is right before my workout too, so that helps. My cravings have gotten a lot less since I have been eating healthy and on a schedule too. I can be satisfied with a lot less, just a taste of something sometimes. And yes, I always write it down and count it even if it's just a bite!

After dinner sweets are nice. Period.
I cure my appetite for the same by picking on Sugar free Jelly (jello if your US) Agreed it's not Key Lime Pie, but it does please the sweet tooth.
