Most important I love working out and doing sports, but I seem to get burned out very quickly. I tend to always find an excuse why not to go that day. I was wondering what is it? or Should I try different things to keep me interested? Let me know?

It's called Dedication buddy, no one can make you go to get a workout in...You need to find some reason to bring yourself to that kind of commitement. Me the reason I workout almost everyday is because it's hard not to. I am just the opposite of you, I try and find every excuse to be able to get my workout in. The reason I do it, is simply for the love of it, becoming bigger stronger, leaner, meaner...You need to find some motivation....Not a nanny.-------------- Diet- Only take what you need...There is no fine line between want and need, there is the whole continent of South America.~Dick |

Mostly it's just a mental thing. I know because I have the same problem :)Once at the gym I'm fine though but getting myself there is the problem.
Things that help are sticking to a routine. Pick certain days to go to the gym and dedicate to going those days. Try not to think of "making it up the next day" but rather work out on your set days. Also, try hooking up with a friend and work out together or at least go together. Sometimes it helps to have someone to motivate you or to drag you a$$ to the gym. Are you seeing the results that you were expecting? Maybe this might be something that makes you less motivated. Some of us just aren't die hard gym people. But keep at it. Make it a routine to go, but also make it fun. Mix up your workout or try some fitness classes instead of trudging along on a treadmill. Hope this help. |

Thank you shaolin905. I love to workout, but it has gotten somewhat repetitive. I will try to mix up my workout and see what is the results.
I visited the Shaolin temple in China. Do you study any kind of martial art? If so, what do you do when you want to learn more, but you have to be taught a snails pace? |

Have a regular gym schedule, then you know every Mon at such and such time you will be going to the gym. All you have to motivate yourself to do is get in the car. Once you're at the gym you have no choice but to work out. I meet my sister at the gym twice a week, too. Knowing someone else is waiting for you and having a workout partner and a spotter when you get there is motivating. But I'm like Richard, you have to fight to keep me OUT of the gym. I need motivation to leave! LOL
I agree that it's helpful to mix up your workouts; I'm doing the FT progressive gains program and I get a different workout every time I go to the gym, never get bored, and have gotten pretty good results, too. Before that I was using the same workouts over and over and wasn't seeing a lot of changes in my body, I reached a certain point and then plateaued, plus I was bored to tears. Shaking things up and finding new things to do can help a whole lot. |

Sorry bout that, assente74. Dahayz has just got me all worked up here. I should just say that Desire=Dedication, you have to want it even when it is repetetive. Think of what the training will do for you health wise, and think of who you will become. That motivates me. Again, sorry there bud.-------------- Diet- Only take what you need...There is no fine line between want and need, there is the whole continent of South America.~Dick |

I would suggest that, in order to keep your motivation, add a level of vision to your workout. Sure, mix it up a little, do something new, but get your vision involved. If you have vision and it's more than your process and dissatisfaction
D + P + V > Cost If you make your vision so complete you can see yourself doing it. and think and do it every day, it will come true. I practice my vision and it's so clear I actually practice the speech I will make when I reach my goal! If you want more help with this motivation and vision thing, let me know, I have some professional caliber resources. -------------- annie Changing One Life at A time... http://annie.themomteam.com |
