Howdy,

I'm trying to build my upper body up, especially my chest, pecs, biceps, triceps, shoulders, abs etc.

I am considering getting into a regular pilates workout going 2-3 times a week.

I was wondering how this will affect my muscle building in a negative or posotive way. Thanks!

I would think it would not be a problem at all. Your improved flexibilty should improve your range of motion while lifting. Also Pilates and yoga supposedly hit some smaller muscles that can be missed by lifting alone.

Pilates will in no way interfere with your weight training. And yes, it will imorove your flexibility and ROM as stated by Dixie. Pilates doesn't ovrerload your muscles like weight training. Most weight trainers would benefit from a pilates program.

An additional benefit of pilates is that it is built upon doing exercises with extreme correct placement. I've been doing pilates for about 6 months now, and I'm finding that I tend to use better form now in OTHER types of exercise that I engage in because of the principles of pilates that are slowly becoming ingrained in me.

Good luck=)
