I just purchased a step system by Reebok and did one workout session, but noticed that ly legs hurt more than they normally do in a class at the gym (I am on intermediate level of step). We don't have a basement, and the floor in the room where I work out is concrete (right on the ground level). So my question is - how bad is it to work out using a step board on this kind of surface? Am I going to kill my knees? How much different is the impact from what the floor is like at the gym (hardwood)?
I will be curious to hear your feedback. Thanks a lot!
Good shoes will be the solution to your problem, hi quality with lots of support tell the clerck what you want them for and the type of floor you are working on. I would be carefull with the rubber mat it most likely will be either to soft & springy or to hard the same as the concrete. Is there carpet or any thing covering the concrete now?.

yes, there is carpet - though it's pretty thin and not so soft in the room where I worked out - I am wondering if I will be better off working out in another room (also on the fist floor) where the carpet is thicker (plush)?
