This sounds fine for staring out, I started out with just a pair of dumbbells, a year or so latter I added a bench and a long bar, I also cycled – I owned a cardio one but it was cheep and fairly useless, the real thing is better. It all depends upon if you can get motivated and have space a home. I find it hard now and need more of the equipment in the gym – specifically I found it hard not having a secure overhead fixing for pull ups, lat pull downs and machines for leg training ect at home. Though also remember you can jog anywhere which is great for losing fat and general fitness.
Water has numerous beneficial properties and it is best to drink as much as possible. Most commonly quoted it the effects on water retention, if you body feels it dose not have a regular supply of water it tries to store it this makes fat layers look thicker. On the other hand if you have a constant supply it dose not bother to store it and bingo you look better. Though also when you train more you eat more protein, inevitably some of this gets metabolised for energy and you form urea, which you then want to flush out the system. You will also become dehydrated from sweating during a workout and so on so in short yes drink as much water as possible.
