i heard you should work your upper body on one day (1-1.5 hr workout) and then your lower body on the next day with 48 hrs rest in between. is this recommeneded? is it okay if i did my upper AND lower body in an hours-worth of workout time w/ a 15-min cardio run at the end? my purpose is to gain muscle and im a skinny beginner (18% body fat i think is what i have)w/no muscle. :(
any advice on a good weight trainin program???

any advice?

I would suggest signing up a program here at ft. They work great. I personally have not had much success with the 2 day split.. why don't u try the 3 day or 4 day splits offered here at ft, select the gain muscle size option.

Good Luck

Ugh.
If you're looking to gain muscle, you've got to eat more. That's first and foremost. Get yourself a multivitamin and protein supplement. Cardio will do nothing to help you gain muscle and those whose top priority is muscle gain (I'm not saying that yours is or that it should be) do no cardio. It sucks up calories and is catabolic. In my opinion, a three or four day split is optimal, perhaps splitting upper body into two days and lower into two days. Or doing core (sort of) workouts on three days (back/bi, chest/tri, legs) and the others (calves, forearms, shoulders, abs) on a fourth. Limit your workouts to 1 hour max. But most of all, educate yourself. Start with articles at Men's Health or t-mag.com's Dawg School.
I, personally, don't like FT workouts, but they would suffice if you can't design your own after learning some stuff.
