I am planning to set a goal of lifting weights but ive heard that lifting weights can stunt your growth (height wise)..i have a friend who said that that only happens if i lift weights at a really young age (9-13)can somone plz tell me bout this.

Lifting weights does not stunt your growth. Depending on your age, it could effect the growth plates from developing properly. Depending on your age (Please fill in your profile)and lifestyle, it may or may not be beneficial to you at this time. Tell us more about yourself and we can give you a more specific answer.

im 15..about the growth plate thing, i damaged one in my ankle and had to had a operation to fix it, so yea hope this helps. thanks btw

It does affect your bone development somewhat, so I guess that's considered stunting your growth, but as you said, it only happens when done in very early years. Actually 15-16 is the perfect time to start lifting.
