wrapping up week 5

i didn't get to do my week 5 weigh-in until this morning, but i was very pleased. i'm down to 182, which made me smile. i'm only 7 lbs. away from my target weight for phase 1, which is looking more and more realistic.

i feel a lot stronger now, although my legs are still giving me problems. i have a really sharp pain in my right shin from playing tennis, and it's making it hard to do anything that involves taking steps. squats and lunges aren't my friends. running is also uncomfortable, but once i get about 7 minutes into it i get used to the pain and it doesn't bother me anymore.

i bought tennis shoes to up the cushion i'm getting on the court, and that has helped. i don't want to give it up because it's helping me stay really active and it's giving me a reason to run lines. i can practice on my own, and i do this in addition to hiit 3 times a week. it's no wonder i've lost 12 lbs.

i've had some allergy problems over the past week, which is killing my appetite. it's hard to want to eat when you've got drainage. i've been force-feeding myself so i don't bring my metabolism to a screeching halt.

there's also a possibility that my endocrinologist is going to put me on a drug that will help me with my weight loss. apparently my body is in a perpetual pre-diabetic state, through no fault of my own. it's just the way i am. this explains why i can never lose the last 5 lbs, regardless of how perfect my diet and exercise habits are.

anyway, here's the official weigh-in report.

week 4: 184
week 5: 182
total weight loss: 12 lbs.

cheers.
