Day one was not done as the gym was closed and we wound up doing a pile of yardwork.
This was the very first time I've given this baby a whirl... I think I need to up the weights... I love this resistance training thing... a lot of experiment and trial and error.
I don't believe I got the heart rate as high as it should have been. At it's peak, I was at about 75%. So, I'm thinking adjust the weights higher. But, being as this was the first crack at it, better to start light, right?
So, here's how it shook down:
Start Time: 12:16pm
Warmup - three minutes on recumbent bike
Machine Press: 6px5x5
Standing Lat Raises: 8lbsx5x5
BO DB Lats: 8lbsx5x5
Hammer Curls: 8lbsx5x5
EZ Bar Curls: 25lbsx5x5
Dips Behind Back: BWx5x5
Cable Pushdowns: 7.5kgx5x5
Seated Wrist Curls: 8lbsx5x5
Reverse Wrist Curls: 8lbsx5x5
I tried to keep rest times to about 15 seconds.
Finish Time: 1:00pm
On the bent over DB Lats, one of the trainers pointed something out; I usually bend over with my back completely parallel to the floor. She suggested raising my back to about 45 degrees, rotate the hips to keep the back flat and raise the weights out standing in that position instead of completely bent over. Whew, totally different feeling. Much better, I think. This makes me wonder, however, if the Bent Over DB Lats would be about the same as the Standing lat Raises. They did seem to work different areas.
So, after rattling this off today and looking back, I think I need to up the weights a few pounds to try and get the HR higher.
Bring on Friday! It's Leg Day!
