Wednesday...Back to the Gym...yippy!!
So, first time back to the gym in over 4 weeks! My back is about 85% healed, with most of the current problems now relating to stiffness and a bit of muscle spasms, but it feels 100% better! I ventured around the gym slowly and carefully...even had a couple people ask where I've been (nice to know people notice when you dissapear suddenly)
Basically, here's what I did (no real plan in mind, just testing the waters...)
10 min on treadmill (I really wanted to run, but didn't, think it was just listening to my tunes again that gave me the urge to run--couple more weeks)
3 sets slow bodysquats-nice and deep-no problem
2 sets stationary lunges, 1 set walking lunges-no problem
3 sets asst pullups ~65lb--oh this felt very good-no problem!
3 sets smith squats-no weight, nice and deep-almost added wt, but didn't (yup, I'm getting smarter!) -no problems
3 sets pull downs, only 50lbs, but felt very good-no problems
3 sets calf raises, 80lbs-little twinge in back, but felt more muscle related-think I was just getting tired
Finished with lots of back stretches, supermans, arches etc.
Woohoo, did that feel good. Can't wait to add some wt to the routine. A couple more weeks and I'll be back to DL's!!
I had a physio appt immediately following, so that stretched me out further. Still feelin' good 2 hours later! Only real issue I'm having is a very tight hip flexor, but I can deal with that by stretching.
Sooo good to be back, let's hope I remain this way! Diet is actually going pretty well. I've even lost a couple of pounds, which I was attributing to muscle loss, but my clothes are fitting better, so it's all good. Thank heavens I've been able to keep up with the swimming, and my fly is getting pretty damn good, if I do say so myself (;
