Wednesday....Back to the gym and weights...+ yesterdays swim...

Last evening I went to an open house Masters Swim Club, since I'm thinking of joining. They had us swim 500m of whatever strokes we knew (I did free/back/breast, no fly 'cause I really suck at it) and then 400 of combo kick only and freestyle-50/50, then 6X75 of back/breast/free with 15s rest between sets. It was a good workout, but based on my experience, light compared to the actual workouts. They have an A and a B group-A being faster and more competative. In the end the coach couldn't decide where I belonged, which was kind of cool to think he thought I could handle the A group. In the end we decided it would be best to start with the B and see how I do. Which was cool with me since I'd rather be fast with the slow group, than slow with the fast group...so B it is. My first official workout is on Thurs and I can swim up to 5X/week--which i won't!

Onto Today's workout...Easy since I haven't done wts in over 3 weeks....

4min light run on treadmill

2.5 X 12 smith squats 25lb/75/75 (quit because my hamstrings were hurting...oh oh )

3X10 45lb BB flat bench

3X10 80lb assist pull ups

1X6 45lb SL deadlifts -idiot...forgot about my hamstrings so cut these short as well.

3X12 50lb seated cable rows

3X10 back extentions

Stretch to cool down...mainly hamstrings and hipflexors

I know that after the triathlon my hamstrings were pretty tight, so I'm assuming that's the problem. Hope it clears up soon.

I'm still not sure how I'm going to schedule my swimming, cycling, wts and running into my weekly workouts, but I'm sure I'll work something out. I think I'll speak to my new swim coach about it, maybe he has some good suggestions.
