Time to try a 20km (12mile ride)
After a good rest day and finally a good nights sleep, I decided to give a 20km bike ride a try, just to see how long it takes me and to set some training goals. I decided to just do it at the gym on a stationary bike. I set the tension relatively light and tried to keep my cadence high and steady. It took me 35min...not bad...not great, but it was my first run at it. I certainly worked up a good sweat. After, i did some upper body work, because I've only done 1 wt session this week.
Today's workout:
35min (20km) on stationary bike
Asst pull ups: 3 sets 10X80/10X70/8X70 (80/90/90lb)
Mach pec flyes: 3 sets 12X45/12X50/10X50lb
20 ball crunches/12 obl ball crunches/12 obl ball crunches
tons of stretching to cool down.
I would like to get the 20km bike to about 30min, so I'll have to work on that. Next time i'm going to try a 20min bike followed by a 15min run.
I'm now confidant that I can do each leg of the triathlon, it's doing each leg consecutively that'll be the challenge.
I'll be running tomorrow morning and maybe some golf. Sunday will be a rest day since I'm off to the beach for the day.
