Swim

I did about 2 and a half miles without fins. Did a hard fast half mile and got a bad hamstring cramp. I removed the fins and propped my leg up on the kayak. Problem was I was 3/4 mile from the boat. I rested and side stroked with my leg propped dragging the kayak. The cramp eased up and I swam on home without the fins. It's a lesson I learned from years and years in the water. Relax, don't panic, solve the problem and get home.

Gah! Legs cramps are the worse! Glad you were able to get back to your kayak okay. Don't forget to take some potassium the next time you go out. I always get cramps in the water, but occasionally when I sleep, too. I have HBP so the medication I have does something to my sodium and potassium levels which causes the cramps. I either eat a banana after dinner, or take a potassium pill. :)
