SUGAR ARGGGHHH

For the past few days I have been making a very hard effort to avoid sugar. I even went and bought sugar free wheat bread which isn't so bad after a day or two. I am still eating fruits and veggies so I am getting my natural glucose but boy, these withdrawals suck. I really didn't realize how much sugar I was consuming on a daily basis until I started this effort. WOW, there is sugar in everything, even milk. But now, my body is trying to fit my will. It wants oreos and honey buns. Here, in the New Orleans area, it is Mardi Gras season which means king cakes and lots and lots of booze. I want to join in so badly and my body is telling me to. I know that I shouldn't though. I just got back from a 3 mile walk/jog. My knee only lets me do so much for now, even with the brace on. I am feeling better, but boy this morning my body was feeling achy and sluggish and begging for that sugar. I will overcome this though. I know I can do it.

I've done a lot of reading on sugar and it's role in diabetes, obesity, inflammatory diseases, cancer, etc. Gosh - there is no better way to develop an aversion fast! I highly recommend you do some research on this. The more you know, the more powerful you'll become! You're right! It's very difficult to avoid this in the foods we buy. I've been sucessful only because I've resolved to cook at home and firmly avoid the central isle in the grocery store! Once you see the difference it'll make in your energy levels and your body - it'll become easier! Keep it up :)
