so far so good

I started training last week for a half marathon. But i am trying to help motivate my friends aswell because they are doing it with me. i find it easy to push myself as i have always had to, because i used to play football professionally. but when it comes to motivating them to come to the gym or go for a run they just moan. when i finally get them to come we are half way through a workout they come up with an excuse for them to stop or they have hit a wall. This is killing my mood and stopping me from improving my fitness. i need a way to get them motivated so i can enjoy my workouts
