OMG I'm SORE, but still did my Tri training.....
I haven't been this sore in a very long time. I can barely walk and my chest feels like it has been separated. Think maybe I should have started back a bit lighter on Monday. I think the squats and bench press did me in! I felt OK even during my run yesterday, but DOMS set in about mid afternoon yesterday.
In prep for my Tri, I discovered that my community pool has length swimming from 11:30-1:30 every day and it's only a 5min drive from work....so, i went for an endurance swim over lunch today. It was a lot busier than I thought, so next time I'll shoot for 1-1:30 and hopefully it'll be a bit quieter. It's hard to do an endurance swim with too many swimmers in your lane.
I'll need to do 750meters for the Tri so I'll work up to an 800m swim. It should take me about 15min
Today my goal was to swim front crawl for 15min non stop. However, it was way to busy and I kept catching up to the guy in front of me so had to stop several times in the beginning. I did manage about 800m total and did 400m non stop at the end. I was in the pool for about 20min. I did OK, but my arms were getting pretty tired-not surprising considering my current state of DOMS!!
Last night I got my bike ready by putting air in the tires and my daughter and I went for a bit of a ride. It was fun to go biking and I'll do this with her at least once a week as part of my training, along with one long road indurance ride. The bike is too small for me and really to heavy for a tri, so I may break down and buy a hybrid bike before the tri.
I'm going to have to re work my wt training and focus on more of an endurance workout. I won't be able to train properly for the Tri if I continue to get this sore!!!
