Friday...5km run and golf
Since my running buddy bailed for our usual Saturday run, I decided to run outside today instead. I know I need to speed up for the triathlon, so I decided to time my run to see where I'm at. It took me 27:16, which is better than I thought I'd do, but still a long way off of what I'd like to achieve for the tri. Based on last years event it looks like the average time was 22-27min with the top 10, in my age group, coming in under 24min. I found the run very tough today and I'm not sure if it was because I was trying to run faster or the heat or I just wasn't at my best today. I'm hoping to get my Garmin Forerunner GPS system next week, so I'll use that to help me set a better pace. I'm also going to start doing some hills training this weekend.
I also need to get a long bike ride in....I haven't had a chance to ride my new bike because it's been over 35C with excessive humidity, but it's better today.
So lots of improvement still needed, but I think i know how to work on it. I've still got 5 weeks. I'm really enjoying the challenges this is presenting!
I'm looking forward to cutting from work early and getting in 18 holes of golf this afternoon.! TGIF
