I think i have the smallest biceps for my size/age that i've seen yet on these forums. i'm 18, about 140 lbs, and my arms are a bit under 9 inches when relaxed and 10 inches when i flex. my wrists are tiny, too -- 6 inches. I can't stand having such small arms, i see like 13, 14 year olds, some even younger, who have way bigger arms than me -- some that i've seen in this very post. I'm at college now so there is a fitness center I can use, but what excercises should i do? I don't really want to go in and have it be obvious i don't know what I'm doing, and I'd have to pay for a personal trainer to help me. So what machines should I start by using? and if i bought a pair of free weights, what weight should i get to start to work out?

Thanks guys.

Just like KC said, stick wit it. I always had small arms and they still are not big. I can say that they have grown, in time yours will too. As far as workouts to do, Everyone here will tell you to stick with the big movements: Pull Ups, Bench Press, Seated Rows, Military Press. Oh, cant forget deadlifts. I agree

I dsagree Jonathan it is about the weight. You show me One person that has biceps over 16inches that has nost Curled heavy AND does not do Deadlifts, chins BOR.....Fact of the matter is in order to grow any muscle group larger than the body wants you need to eat big and lift big.

wow your second post and you insult me. Nice. Why is it all you freaking losers feel the need to do that. My arms while not "cut" and still not fat. I have had 19in hard arms. I have lifted for over 14 years. So mister bouncer 20yr old loser read a bit before you come on here blasting me.

AS for Bodybuilders not curling heavy. I think you are full of crap. Who is Tony Freeman? What has he won. and as for him just curling 30lbs and having 22 in arms that is crap too. There is no way to build guns like that with out curling hard and heavy weights......

As for not doing it right, how is that directed to me? I have cheated on lifts most of us lifters with real lifts and numbers and the like have, it is a way to grow. I do use as close to perfect form as i can.

AND I just bet you are also vickrx7 and 920 as well from this and another post.

Leave you attitude out of this youngseter....I did not attack you just said I disagreed.

Hey Mutt I have to agree with you on lifting heavy. The only way to increase arm size is to increase weight as you get use to it. On the eating big I would have to disagree. Only because i used to weigh 267 last October and was tired of it so over the last 5 months cut my calories severely (just kept my proteing intake high). Im now at 199 and 6% bodyfat but my arms are still a nice 18.5 inches. But ofcourse I wasnt curling just 30 lbs either

First off you know very little and I think you need to re read what I first posted. You are all over the board on your replies....I do not care what ANYONE says....I am fat big deal my goals are not to look like a cover model, though if I did I do have the Knowledge and will power to do it. I can train people and I would NEVER suggest a new person jump into a set of barbell curls with a weight that was not safe for them.

AS for This comment:degree in clinical athletic training and im a master fitness trainer in the army reserve and i have 3 certifications so id say that puts me a little ahead of you retarded meatheads dosent:
I can safely say that 99.999999999999999999999999999% of all trainers are full of crap and you my friend have justified that.

Congratulations. I hold 4 certifications, a national championship, and am working on my degree in biomechanics and human factor engineering. But that doesn't mean shit.

If there's one thing I've learned in this industry it's that a certification isn't worth the paper it is written on.

But then I guess I'd have to be a meathead to notice that...

I heard a guy that's played poker for years say no one will ever 'master' the game. I suspect the same is with weight training/bodybuilding.

For every method some supports there is another to say it's crap.

jonathan, mutt and wrestler know what they are talking about. You don't have to agree with it, but you don't have to start a fight about it either.

And please, for the sake of the English language and all the teachers of grammar, please include some punctuation.

jon. I highly suggest you calm down....coming in and attacking/ shoving advice down people throats and belittling people won't get you anywhere....but booted off the sight.

If you reamember one this...its this...respect is earned not given.

Also...."you hate fat trainers".....what is "fat".....not looking like you? Not everyone wants to be a cover model for GQ or means fitness....Some trainers may be "fat" according to your standards....they may be a retired powerlifter....or just realize health is whats on the inside and about ho wyou feel.

I'll take advice from a "fat" trainer....after I listen to him and see what he says...Look at some of the best coaches of football, baseball some are "fat"...hell some bball coach are like under 5'10" ...just cause they don't play or can't play....does that make thier mind weak?

I help teach tumbling to cheerleaders....I have never done a back handspring by myself....nor have I done a roundoff backhandspring back tuck....ever. But I can still look at somthing and know they aren't stretching thier hand spring out, they are undercutting, or not setting with their arms up.

I'd much rather...listen to a "fat" trainer...who's got 10-15year expierance....than some young hot shot with abbs who thinks he knows it all.

I started weight training a little more than 5 months ago. That's a real accomplishment as I used to hate lifting. I never had more than 13-inch arms in my best days. After losing 25" (10 to go), my bi-s are 14 1/4" (goal is 15"). I see muscles on me that I didn't think I had. My daughter called me a liar cuz I told her my body-type would never grow big. I look forward to seeing what I am capable of becoming. I may never be God's gift to women, but at least I can be God's gift to my wife.

Or better yet, maybe you should take your master army fitness certification, throw it in the garbage, and go actually lift something.

I'm 6'2 around 220 pounds and got 17.5 inch flexed and their cut so people think I've got good arms...I have to agree with what Jonathan said. Its more about higher reps and proper form even if it means less weight. Mutt no offence but from seeing those pics u need to run and do more cardio, cut down and then start pumping proper again. A friend of mine probably has 20 inch "biceps" but the only excerise he gets is walking to KFC. It ain't about size its how you look and feel.

Ok I know I should not but I can not help it. Ravin or Jon or whoever you are.....why state "no offence" then say I need to do more cardio? ANd as for that why should I do more cardio? More studies have proven that excess cardio can cause fat to be stored by the body. A better way to lose BODY FAT with out losing too much LBM is to clean ones diet up, have a good resiestance training plan, and then if that is not working add in cardio. Cardio is not the cure all that you seem to think it is. Oh and by the way next time you call out a person do a bit of research. I never claimed to want to be a Metrosexual, if that is the look you want all the more power to ya. I am a strength trainer, power lifter. I care about lifting more weight. GET IT RIGHT.

Mutt you have to run!. I'm saying this for your own benefit. Yes of course you need to diet as well eat 5-6 smaller meals and less junk food. In all truth the body you have right now is not a solid powerlifters body its more in the fat catagory. This is not to insult you but to hope you take this into consideration and lose some weight. Because right now there is no definition when you flex and if you have trained for 11 years then you ain't doin it right
