In the past month, I started working out on a frequent basis (5-6 times a week) and eating a little more healthy. The past week I have been more regular than I have been in years! I'm talking once a day when I used to only go maybe twice a week! Is there a relationship between metabolism and being regular?

Eating healthier means being more regular...as a kid I could hold out for once a week...great for camping trips...no so good for general health....
Eating healthier means eating more fiber...both soluble and insoluble....around 30-35g a day in all..by eating whole foods...you're assuring that you get more of fiber...for example whole rye/wheat breads vs the crappy practically nutritionless 'wonder bread' the white variety...
Metabolism also may play a role...as you gain more muscle you raise body's metabolism...so you burn more calories doing same things....so that your body needs to get rid of more waste...so it forces you to be more regular...
