I just did the online fitness calculator and did my maximum oxygen use. I got a score of fair, and I know it is because of my asthma. How much stock should I put into this calculator, when I know I have poor lung capacity? I always have, intense workouts have always been a struggle for me breathing wise. It doesn't take much for me to have painful breathing, and coughing fits, so I have to be careful. I am on some new drugs that seem to make it easier, but I still want to be careful.

Any one have knowledge of this issue?

The calculator is a way to determine the efficiency of the cardiovascular system. Unfortunatly asthma is going to have a negative impact on this. The good news is that through continual training the lungs will adapt & become more efficient despite the presence of asthma. Personally I was diagnosed with asthma as a child & still have some complications with it from time to time. The important thing to remember is always focus on safety first, don't over do it & be sure to keep your inhaler handy at all times. Just be patient & persistant & results will come. Remember "It doesn't matter how far south you have gone, once you start going north, you are going north"
