With such a topic so broad we truly try to cover the basics from all angles in this group. Nothing too big or too small. Nutrition is as significant if not more as exercise is to reaching your goals so learn all you can.
I started monday on this site and love it so far. I also started my fitness plan as well. Right now I weight 230 lbs and I'm 5'11 and 24 years old. I was recently divorced so I want to get back into shape and feel better about myself. My only problem is how do I go about doing this. I am on the strength trainining fitness plan. What I do in the gym is spend 10 minutes warming up on a bike. I then do my assigned workout for that day. After that I spend another 10 minutes on a stairclimber. If I stick with that and do it everyday will I achieve my goal and start losing weight? Thanks in advance for all your help.

What you are doing sounds great. Many here suggest at least 25 minutes of cardio and that you do it on a day off from lifting or separate the time you do it by 6 or 8 hours.
The most important thing you can do is research your dietary habits here and follow the advice. Takes some time but if you use strength training and cardio for fitness you have to eat right for the best results.
I had lost some weight before coming here but I have actually gained weight since. My waist is 6" smaller and my weight is up 10 lbs. Measure your progress with a tape measure as well as a scale.
every time i get on the stairclimber, 40 min into it i get really nautious. but it only happens on this machine. why?

Do you eat too close to the workout? what kinds of things do you eat prior?....different foods have different digestion rates as well as effects on the body...so it may be unwise to eat some things that digest slowly too close to the cardio workout...I have done this also on a few occassions and was in the bathroom afterwards following an intense weight training session or cardio workout...
my other guess is because the machine is more intense for you than other things you do...so it pushes you harder...
