Hi, I 'm not sure when I joined this site. It's been awhile ago. I checked out all the message boards, picked up a few recipies. Now, I need help! I was working out 3-4 days a week buring fat and slimming down a litte!! Everything was great until 3/25/06!!!! My life changed. I was injured on my job. Assulted by a patient. (work in the ER) Now I have constant pain. I have herinated L4-L5,L5-S1
I have had a prior discectomy on those two and a laminectomy (removing bone that is compressing the spine). I'm very upset, my life was wonderful! I was feeling great about myself and was eating great. I was looking forward towards wear a bathing suit for the first time in years!! Now that I'm on bed rest while trying cortisone injectons, I'm GAINING weight VERY FAST!! I'm not eating a bunch of junk! I'm just very unhappy to be dealing with this in my life now. I don't want to get FATTER!! Any serious ideas? I am not allowed to do cardio, legs, back or abs. I can't go the the gym because I would have to bend over to adjust the weights. Any, any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks!!

This probably isn't the answer you wanted but just about your only options to keep from gaining weight is to quit eating more than your maintenance calories and probably less. It's not so much a matter of how much junk you eat but how much you eat. Other than that - give it time to heal.

I would take fish oil supplement.....10g daily, split in 2....take a calcium supplement....1-2g daily......cut calories to prevent weight gain...

I would try partial good mornings or hyperextensions...bend over as much as doesnt hurt...then go back up....repeat for 10 reps.....rest 3-4 minutes....repeat another 1-2 times....

Thanks guys for the advice!! I think I'll pick up those supplements. What is the fish oil for? Ease digestion?? Thanks!!!!
