Hey everyone! I'm Male 26yr. 5'8 172 pounds muscular built. My body fat is 18.9% is that consider high? I'm happy with my body it's just the mid section that's giving me a lot of problems.

I work out about 3-4 times week and I just started doing cardio on the stationary bike for about 35 mins. I was wondering when is the best time to ride the stationary bike, before a work out or after a workout.

Thanks

In an answer to your question about the body fat percentage, 18.9% is considered average (I believe). It's in between good and fair somewhere.

In order for you to lose that unwanted mid section, you will have to get on a fat loss diet. You can fill in your nutritional profile at the top of the page and it will show you a breakdown of the macronutrients for your goals.

You should be doing 45 min to an hour of moderate cardio exercise for about 4-5 days a week as well.

It's best to split up the cardio days from the weight lifting days, but if you can't find time to do that, then it would be much better to ride the stationary bike after your workout instead of before.

i thogught it was good to do cardio before and after. Before to get your blood flowing and after do a vigorous one if u still have the energy. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Depends on your goals I suppose - I have found that cardio on upper body days are easier on the legs and you do not get fatigued as quickly. I agree that giving cardio its own day is best. I am currently doing a 3 days weights and 3 days cardio and dropping about 3# per week. Just my 2 cents

From everything I'd read this is correct. Take 5-7 minutes before weight training to do some light to moderate cardio just to get your blood pumping. Then weights and then 30-45 min of cardio after. It's still best to split them up by a day, but I'm doing the same thing for now just for time constraints.

Thanks for the suggestions.....

One more question for days that I do decide to do weights and cardio. Should I have a protein shake right after the weights or after the weights and cardio?

Thanks
