How much Sodium is too much Sodium. For example, a can of Tuna in Spring Water containing 350mg of sodium. Is this considered too much sodium? My girlfriend said it contains too much sodium therefore she stays away from it. I on the other hand like it straight out of the can. I don't want to consume too much sodium, so if it's too much, is there any way I can get rid some of it? any ideas? I know I can eat less, but I rather consume the whole can. Perhaps, next time I can just purchase the ones with less Sodium. But what will I do with the 10+ cans I have stocked? Thanks!

The National Research Council of the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, D.C., has determined that the recommended safe minimum daily amount is about 500 milligrams of sodium with an upper limit of 2,400 milligrams. However, the council has said that lowering sodium intake to 1,800 milligrams would probably be healthier.

Therefore, the amount of sodium in a can of tuna (you stated 350mg) is well below the safe minimum daily amount.
