Hello world I hope you can help me figure out what my alternatives are. I have gone from 187 lbs in 1991 to 301 lbs last night 14 years later. I have gone and requested the stomach stapling surgery and it will be approved in 6 to 8 weeks and then about 4-5 months for the surgery date. Lately i have been thinking about what a drastic action that is. but i have some issues
1. No/Little time 2. My back pain is brutal at times (sciatic nerve pinch) what can I do to get motivated and get off my backside do you have some effective routines that could help me out without putting pressure on my back. -------------- Shawn......... Somethings unfortunally, if you want bad enough, gotta suck it up and do it anyways. And you have to make time. Theres something in a magizine I read that I liked, its called your "NO muscle".
That is someone asks you to do somthing, simply but politly say "no, I have to work out today." Boss ASKS you to stay after work, to work on somthing for him/ her. ( only if they, ask, if told too, do it don't wanna get you fired lol) Tell them sorry I have already made plans. I do know, working out, does relieve pain, due to the adreline, and endrofins relased, I also know, if you loose some weight, the pain may not be as bad. I'm pretty sure you can use machines, and dbs with out puting alot of pressure on your back. I do have to ask? Why not get your pinched nerve seen too, instead of the stomach stapling? -------------- The following, has not be approved by the FDA or FT, it was not meant to diagnose, treat,or prevent any diease(s) Please consult a moderator or doctor before using any of the suggestions or comments. |

I would suggest to try to start out with walking. Try to take a walk 3 days our of the week for 15 minutes. If that seems ok and doesn't give you too much trouble, add another day, and another 5 minutes. Walking is just about the easiest workout you can do.

Thanks Andrew that was nice... I agree I started 2 nights ago with the DB's doing all the upper body and the stiffness is there but you know it makes me feel better. I get up 1hr early now. I just need to stay motivated now..
I dont know what to do for my lower body.. I cant walk any distance really and the steps kill me... There is nothing they can do for my back. i continue going to the chiropractor and it helps.. this happens about once a year for a few months. There would be no better feeling than for my surgery date to come up and me having the abilty to see .. no thanks i dont need it now... any suggestion on the lower body...My abs are very strong for a person of my size.. i use the wheel almost everyday if i didnt i wouldnt be able to move at all. I know the core is key.. Is it true that the more muscle mass i build the more calories i will consume ============ Quoting from bigandrew: Somethings unfortunally, if you want bad enough, gotta suck it up and do it anyways.
