Hey wassup yall love the site,

This is my question. My GF has not had her period since we started having sex in November. It is going to march and already 5 months. We always use protection and she has taken 2 pregnancy test, the best kind, and they both came up negative. So whats going on?

If your gf is super active (lots of running, weight training, etc) she may be suffering from athletic ammenorhea. Her body is essentially shutting down non-vital (ie: reproductive) functions to compensate for the energy expenditure from exercise. High protein, low carb diets, stress and very low %bodyfat can also trigger the onset of athletic ammenorhea.

If her menstrual cycle was always very irregular, or if she suffers from really horrific cramps, she could also have polycystic ovaries syndrome (small, benign cysts on the ovaries that interfere with their hormonal function). Speaking from personal experience, it's not fun.

In either case, she should definitely see her doctor, who may prescribe birth control. Even though it's brilliant not having your period, untreated, ammenorhea results in decreased bone density and the early onset of osteoporosis.

A lengthy response, but I hope it helps!

A lot of things could keep her from getting her period. If she has had any big changes in her lifesytle lately or a lot of stress, this could lead to that. I would have her go to the doctor and get checked, home pregnancy test aren't always correct. Hope everything is o.k.

I have to agree with the rest. Get that girl to a doctor! If you are broke, try planned parenthood or your local health department. You can usually get in there free or at a minimal cost.

Firstly let me tell you that I had to do 4 pregnancy tests before one came up positive!
Is she underweight? this can lead to loss of menstruation
