Im 14 and just finished freshman football.I weigh about 180 and i bench somewhere between 195-205.I wanna go up in bench but i also wanna get my 40 time down, somewhere between a 4'6 and 4'7.So i dont want to gain any extra fat.Im finding it hard to keep adding weight to my bench since i already get over my body weight. any suggestions to increase without gaining too much weight?

for 14 your bench is good work on thoose legs. In football thats where your power comes from.

I used to just do regular dead lifts. I used to squat 500 in the day, but the old knees are not what they used to be.

I don't think it matters which bar you use, alot of it is just your preference...but whichever u use...just remember to go hard. I used to use only the hex bar because that is what my coach taught me on...now i use the straight bar...only as a matter of preference. The best thing I can tell you to do is keep working! Just keep bustin it in the weightroom...your bench will go up...a little over ur body weight is usually a stickin point for a lot of guys our age....its just going to take hard work and perserverence...trust me it can be done! HaHa so what position do you play?
