Not sure if this belongs here.. so im sorry if it doesn't.. I am having a really hard time with having enough energy to do my workouts. I dont know if it because im not sleeping properly, but i never feel rested. When i goto the gym i have to take natural energy boosters, and drink coffee.. this really does help, i have a few times forgotten to take the energy booster and drink coffee and i cant even barely start my workout im so drained, and i have intentionally not taken them to see if i can go without and i can't. I find that if i haven't taken the booster or drank coffee i sleep during the day, its all i want to do, but if i do take the energy boosters i'm fine and can get so much done. Im afraid of becoming dependent on them, and i think i already am because i have been taking them almost every day for 8 months.. are there any other ways to boost energy without taking the pills?

if you're sleeeping at least 8 hours a day and are still experiencing this lethargy....you may have a sleeping disorder.....sleep apnea comes to mind....people stop breathing during the night for periods and then gasp for air...sometimes wake up....they often report poor sleep quality ...

try melatonin 1-3mg....it helps fall asleep and helps sleep more soundly tho you shouldn't take it all the time....I also have had great results taking zinc 50mg and magnesium 300-500mg daily....they also improved my sleep quality...
how is your diet? are you eating enough carbs? what activities that you do during the day?

couple cups of coffee daily are not bad and in fact have very good benefits for the body....

I am by no means a doctor and i would really advise you to go see one...i am surpised you haven't if you been experiencing this symptom for 8 months....

Ashley - you didn't say anything about what your diet is like. Are you by any chance one of those on a really low cal or other fad diets? Those symptoms also fit folks that go on extremely low fat and/or low carb.

I agree with Mike. Carbs are your energy fuel; lack of carbs = lack of energy. Stay away from simple carbs (sugars) - they're only quick boosts of energy and you'll feel tired sooner. Complex carbs are what you want as they store energy until you need it.
