I have been taking Creatine for the past 1.5 months and am going to cycle off for a while. I have gained about 10 pounds in that time and am curious to know how this will effect my muscular gains. I have been eating well, and have been lifting like a fiend (with proper rest) I have also seen minimal fat gain, and am still pretty ripped. How much of that gain would realistically be muscle and how much can I count on losing from cycling off the Creatine...
Creatine draws water from the blood stream into the muscles and will help make the muscles look fuller. When you cycle off, you'll lose some of the water retention. However, provided you keep up the protein intake and basically not change anything else, you shouldn't lose any of your muscles at all. In fact, you're giving your body time to adjust without the creatine, which will help you in the long run the next time you cycle back on.
