I recently posted this topic in the supplements section with no reply.
I’m looking for a few answers regarding creatine, when the best times are to take it, and what to avoid in your diet while taking creatine.
I’m about 6'7 and weigh around 247lbs.
My diet consists of cereal or tea and toast every morning.
A bread roll filled with two strips of lean ham everyday for lunch. For dinner I have and either pasta with fish/chicken breast or a steak with mixed vegetables. I resistance train every second day around 1 hour after dinner.
Could someone please guide on when the best time during the day/night that I take the creatine and what I should cut out of my diet to maximize its effect.
I have read in more than one article that its helpful to take creatine in the morning on your off days and before and after your routine.
Does this mean to take 5 grams in the morning, ten grams (with the same mix) before and ten grams (again with the same mix) after you routine???
Anybody out there that can help me??

Well from my point of view and experiences would be to take creatine....uh....let's see.....NEVER. Yeah that's it. Me and many friends have followed many different forms of creatine and taken in many different ways. The conclusion that each of us drew that creatine, overall was just pointless. You would reap bigger and better benefits by just eating 5 healthy meals a day, trust me.

oh, obviously from the looks of it you aren't taking in enough protein to maintain the lean muscle mass on a house cat. Up the protein buddy, you're 247lbs. you should be easily injesting 200grams a day, you aren't even close to 150. Change the diet before looking for the quick easy pointless and unsafe way of creatine.

Creatine can be a very effective supplement, but richard has a good point that you should lay a foundation of a better diet before you start wolfing supplements. I personally take 5 gms of creatine before my workout and 5 gms after, and then 5-10 gms around the same time on my off days. I've seen good results from it, though others may have adifferent views on it. As always, hard work and good eating are the key, and supplements are only supplemental, not required. Good luck!

I guess I should be more clear...I use to take creatine religiously while on a balanced diet...I noticed increase in size and strength while using it, also with increased energy, the minute i quit taking it everything dropped...when I starteed lifting without it I gained in size and strength but my muscles were fuller and harder. I guess I just found that i could get the same benefits without it, maybe it took me an extra week or so.

A huge thanks to both richardjst and mzakal for
replying. I really appreciate the positive criticism of my diet and the guidelines to when and how much creatine I should take.
I will work hard on balancing out my diet with more protein and look forward to seeing results from the creatine.
