Try typing it everytime you want to log in! I should have picked something simpler, like 'X'. LOL

I may be double-posting - I posted this as a reply to something I pulled up via the fitness buddy, but now I can't find it.. Anyway

Is there any reason not to lift wieghts while my carpal tunnel is acting up? - my wrists and fingertips are quite painful. I just upped my weight, but I'm still only using 5 - 8 and 10lbs.

Thanks for any advice,
Pam

If it bothers it, then don't.

Might need to have it seen to by a doctor, and clip that nerve or ligament.....I forget which it is.

Thanks Andrew,

I haven't been doing strength training very long and there's still a lot of "firsts" I wasn't sure if this was one of those "listen to your body" or "push through it" situations and didn't want to end up making things worse.

I shall attempt my workout tonight - but with caution :-)

I don't know about the carpal tunnel, but those before and after shots are fantastic!

There are a few different mechanisms by which your median nerve can get impinged within the carpal tunnel. I would recommend seeing a sports medicine doctor specifically (not just any doc) and get his advice.

Ditto what us, uh ursa, uh ususus, uh Mark said. My wifes MD said to work through it between the pain. A sports med orthopod gave her specific stretching exercises and said to hold off the exercise until she completed the prescribed physical therapy. She is lifting again as of now and pain free. The therapy was taught in 1 session and she did it at home for about a month.

I have carpel tunnel too. Mine comes and goes. Working out doesn't generally bother it, but like Andrew said if you find it bothering you take a break for a bit. Congrats on all your hard work from the looks of your before and after pictures it paid off, you look great. Keep up the hard work :)

Hey thanks everyone for the input. I'll find a sports doc - wouldn't have thought of that, and thanks for the kind words about the pics - it's a horrible day and the words really picked me up.

I came here because today, which is my first day back on my exercise program, my carpal tunnel is really acting up. For the past two weeks it has been getting worse when I sleep, but now it is really affecting my workout. Is there an exercise or stretch that can help to ease the pain?
