I'm a thin guy, it's hard for me to put on muscle. My fat percentage is around 14% though, I'd like to get it down to 8%. So my strategy is to build up muscle first, then cut back slightly on the calories and do more cardio. Before I started bulking up, I was down to about 11% fat, so it seems the fat is coming with the muscle. And before that I had lost a lot of weight on cardio, and the muscle had gone with the fat. Still, I'm not sure how accurate those readings were, and I sure don't look fat, just need to lose a little so the muscles show through better.
Right now I'm on the mass-building program here, and it's working slowly but I have seen gains. My question is, should I keep trying to build mass after the eight weeks are up? Is it better to go in cycles of build muscle, lose fat, or should I try to build up to a peak level before I try to trim fat? Right now I'm at 168 lbs. (I'm 6'0"), I was down below 160 earlier this year, and I've weighed as much as 195 in the past. So should I try to keep bulking up until I get to 190, then trim fat down to 180? Or should I just stop wherever I get at the end of the 8 weeks, go through a fat trimming cycle, then try to build up again, etc?
