Was wondering how long to wait before upping the weight on the bar, i've adding 5-10lbs. every 2-3 weeks even if i can't complete the desired rep range i usually fall 1-2 reps short.

i see a clever trick that works for the owner of the said 'dirty' trick you play on yourself.. every visit to the gym this guy hangs a peice of chain on each end of his barbel and he has tiny magnetic weights for the dumbells. so effectively he is putting like 1/4 pound on each side and his body didn't notice so next visit he has a bigger bit of chain at just under 1/2 pound and so each visit he says he's tricking himself into not realising that it might only be a scrap but over a fortnight it's quite a bit he didn't think he could lift... so then a little plate goes on and then come the chains again!
so add the weight everytime, little by little. if you feel it isn't working then do an extra set than normal one workout and the next workout add a pound or so.
anyway you can trick yourself in not noticing how heavy you are going is a bonus. good luck

I keep a log of my stuff and go back , and re try kinda like this.....
1st week squat
225/8
315/7
365/5
405/3

2nd week
225/8
335/5
380/4
415/2

3rd week( pick a weigh in between)
225/8
330/6
375/5
410/3

then if I get the reps I wanted form the 1st wee, in week 4, i'll add 10lbs, and actually surpass what I was doing in week 2. Then go back to week twos weights and try for those reps, then in crease another 10lbs. Kinda weird you under stand? lol
