are u sure it is acne? I have seen many people who lifted weights, and it looked more like a bumpy rash on their bicep/tricep area, I am not sure what it is though.
If you are sure it is acne, try using the same stuff you would use on your face to see if that helps.

ok...i found some articles, this may be what you have.

Keratosis pilaris alba : rough, dry, bumpy skin with no irritation

Most people with keratosis pilaris don't know they have it. While KP resembles goosebumps, it is characterized by the appearance of small, rough bumps on the skin. Primarily, it appears on the back and outer sides of the upper arms, but can also occur on thighs and buttocks or any body part except palms or soles. (Often confused with acne.)

Keratosis pilaris tends to occur as excess keratin, a natural protein in the skin, accumulates around hair follicles (process known as hyperkeratinization). Bearing only cosmetic consequence, the condition most often appears as a proliferation of tiny hard bumps that are seldom sore or itchy. Though people with keratosis pilaris experience this condition year round, it’s during the colder months when moisture levels in the air are lower that the problem can become exacerbated and the “goose bumps” are apt to look and feel more pronounced in color and texture.

There is no cure for Keratosis pilaris; treatments are largely symptomatic and must be repeated. Regardless, exfoliation, intensive moisturizing cremes, Retin-A, and medicated lotions containing alpha-hydroxy acids or urea may be used to temporarily improve the appearance and texture of affected skin.

KP often improves with age.

Hopefully this can be some help to you!

hummm from what it sounds like, i dont think there is really any cure for it. If I had that problem, I would probably try some kind of exfoliant (I know most guys dont know much about products, exfoliants are face or body cleansers you get that feel grainy). Try that out, it might make your skin feel more smooth. If it still bothers you, try seeing your doctor about this and see what he has to say.
Good luck

Do you sweat alot while exercising?
Do you take a shower immediately after exercising?
Do you have acne on your shoulders and upper back too?
Do you wear short sleave shirts while exercising?
I have this problem mostly on my shoulder blades. I think it is due to mostly sweating and rubbing. Try wiping down with a towel between sets, and if you are wearing short sleave shirts change to sleaveless shirts or tank tops. When you take a shower first use warm water to open your pours then cold water.

jeon, you are right, some people may break out from sweating a lot or not showering immediately and all the above reasons you have posted. You have provided great advise on how to deal with ance break outs, however there is a difference between acne and the condition that i have mentioned before, where it looks more like a bumpy rash that may look similar to acne.

I guess I over looked that other part francijon wrote. I have know idea about rashes but sounds to me like it's caused from rubbing. It might be an allergic reaction from certain types of fabric.

I guess either way, if the problem is bothering you enough, go see a doctor and get professional advise.

when i loaded trucks for UPS back in the day, i would sweat profusely and get filthy, and my upper arms would break out. so ya, it's probably a pore cleansing issue and not acne.

I have that also, I've started putting lotion on it after I shower and it seems to be helping a little

I had that on my arms, I think- I use a sugar scrub and it pretty much clears it up. I'm not sure if there are any 'guy' sugar scrubs that are easy to find, though.
