Hello everybody. I am 26 years old and have two small children. I am severly overweight and need help. I dont know where to start. I know that you need to eat right and exercise but where do you start? I have not exercised or ate right for about 2 years(about the length of time i was pregnant,I had one right after the other). Ive tried starting several times but have failed all those times. What kind of exercise do you do to start weightloss? cardio or weight training? how much? What can I do with my kids? I'm also tired all the time. Is it because I am seditary and overweight or is there some medical contition? My iron levels were a little low during pregnancy and
my mother also has low levels and is on an Iron supplement. The Dr. said it will probably go away after the birth but maybe it did'nt and that is what is causing my fatigue? I could type forever about my problems but I think this is a good place to start. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Slaps,

First of all go to your doctor and find out if your iron levels are still low, and while there tell him you would like too start an exercise routine, he may be able to point you in the direction of a gp referal scheme as you may need guidence if you are "severly overweight". I do not know where you are but some of these schemes are free too some people here in the uk. Other than that, if you have somewhere that you could start walking, maybe a park with a playground so you could take your little ones, pushing a push chair adds resistance.

If you have a local gym, approach them to see what they can do for you, or ring a personal trainer too find out more, weight loss groups that encompass exercise in the program are good.

There are loads of people on this site that are more than willing to give you advice & support, it's a great community.

As for your diet, complex carbs, fat & protien in the correct amounts, there is a section on site that will help you, look at nutritional plan at the top of the page.

Good luck, get walking it's a start and makes you feel like you are doing something too help yourself.

Hi Slaps

You would probably be surprised to know that at least 70% of the female population has low blood iron..you and me included...and it can cause alot of symptoms, the biggest being fatigue.

Have your dr test your iron levels and see if you can start taking a supplement..eating iron rich foods has helped me alot..

Start a walking program as Steve said..start slow, watch your portions, try and cut out all white stuff, like white rice, bread pasta etc and stick to whole grains..Cut down on sugar and fat intake

It only takes small changes and little steps to start off and you will start to see some changes, especially in your energy.

Good luck
