Has anyone heard that male bodybuilders shouldn't use Soy as their source of protein because it could cause breast growth? I read an article that said Soy protein can raise estrogen levels.

I have never heard of that before. Where did you read this article? I'd be interested in taking a look at it. I will also do some research and get back to you on this... It seems interesting though.

Even if that's the case, we don't generally recommend soy protein. Whey protein is probably the most complete and bio-available protein that you can buy, and I have never heard of any negative effects that it may have. Either way, I'm looking into the soy protein...

I believe I read it at http://www.testosterone.net

Use the search on the front page for "SOY" I believe the name of the article is "The Evils of Soy"

If your body reconizes to much estrogen it wil actually counter it by producing more testostetone. Unless your supplementing with so much that your body has to change.
But as much as you would get out of soy, shouldn't affect you that much.

I know that the FDA has given it an endorsement to allow Soy food manufacturers to make the claim that it is an aid in the fight against heart disease because of it's ability to help lower cholesterol.

Yes I've read that Soy does indeed lower cholesterol but however, it lowers the good cholesterol.

I think you just have a thing for soy, probably because it is alternative to whey which in most cases causes gas and gastric dicomdort ukntil you adjust to the levels of protein. Some people don't have that side effect to soy. It lowers cholesterol but helps to decrease the cholesterol percentage between good and bad which is what you want to monitor. It lowers bad cholesterol. Some say tofu has too much fat per gram protein. Everything has its yin/yang so you just have to decide if it fits your needs and gives you the results you want.
