I keep reading and hearing it is best to exercise in the morning on an empty stomach. I have to eat first thing in the morning. By time I am at the gym it has been one hour since I have eaten. I always eat one cup of oatmeal 2 cups of water and a toast with tablespoon of peanut butter and a teaspoon of ginger marmalade. Does it make much difference in losing weight to eat before and how much does it impede blood flow to the muscles?

I try to drink a protein shake after the workout. I ve read somewhere that I should wait one hour after the workout to drink/eat?

They recommend doing cardio on an empty stomach, not lifting weights. Run around the block a couple of times, eat then go lift for maximum fat lose.

I can live with that and that sounds much more do-able.

Hey fumin...the way i see you have to eat before your workout and straight after your done..I mean within an hour...your body needs the energy and the fuel for the exercises and the chances are that if you won't fuel up your body before the workout you'll run the chance of loosing muscle tissue and glucose as well as the fat...

That's the way I have thought too. I like to get a protein shake in right after the workout with perhaps a banana.

It's important to eat within an hour after a workout for me, even if it's just a protien bar or something to hold me over - otherwise I get so hungry I can't stand it. Before a workout I try to back off of any food for a couple of hours - even more if it's a heavy ab day. I think abs are best worked when your stomach is empty.
