Hey guys, hopefully i get alot of replies, well I'm 5'9 and 180lbs,well I'll be going off to bootcamp in 3 weeks and 4 days and as some of you have read before that I've been having trouble on my pullups. Well during the past 2 weeks i've been drinking lots of water and ive put on a few pounds and its getting on my nerves. I run every weekday for 1 mil to 1 1/2. And every friday about 2 miles, well I've come to the conclusion that if I lose 20-30 lbs it will help me on my pullups because thats the only reason I can think of as to why i can't do ONE SINGLE PULL UP! So I'm asking you guys if you can help me lose 30lbs in 3 weeks, I really need it. My metabolism is kinda slow, so i've been eating more between meals but its not helping.

You should be running ten miles, with a pack and boots...

kasper, if you lose 30 pounds in three weeks you're likely to have even more trouble doing pullups since most of it will be muscle loss. That's way too much way too quick

is there a way to maintain a balance between the too so i wont lose alot of msuicle loss? Cause I run everyday, and do assisted pullups 50 each day or until i can't take anymore.

You might want to take a look at how you're doing the "assisted" pullups. Sounds like your body is doing exactly what you're training it to do. You don't have a lot of time to play with. How many unassisted pullups can you do? Your assisted pullups may be part of your problem. Do real, unassisted, as many as you can do. Stop about 10 seconds and try to beat out a few more. Do that till you can't even do one. Rest 5 or 6 minutes and do the same drill again. I work with a lot of marines here and that's what they have their troops do that have problems. One last thing, 3 weeks from bootcamp isn't the time to go on a starvation diet as you're setting yourself up to fail. They'll get you down to where they want you in to time so don't worry about the weight. :)
