I was wondering what I can do to keep from getting love handles and flab around the belly. I was a fairly thin guy and decided to put on weight and work out. I gained 25 lbs (most of it muscle) in just over two years. For some reason I cant get rid of my new friends flab and love handles. i do cardio 3 times a week but find that I want my six pack again. Any suggestions to keep up progressive muscle gains without the extra fat?

In the Grneral Exercise board, read my post that's stickied entitled "The Most Frequently asked Question at FT". Please fill out your profile and welcome to the community.

shov...how long are you doing cardio for? You should be getting 30-45 min at a time...might try 4-5 days for a week or two just to get the process rolling. Otherwise the majority of fat loss will happen in the kitchen...watch your diet and you should be able to get there.

I have the same problem shovav1982, I went to school and drank beer for 2 years while not doing any ab workout so I lost my 6-pack and my obliques are getting a little fat on them. I eat pretty well now, stopped drinking for the summer, do 2-3 cardio sessions per week, and do 3-5 ab routines per week. I find now I have a defined 4-pack, but my lower stomach (my beer belly) has not changed at all. I've only been doing this for 3 weeks, and I've noticed changes everywhere, but where I wanted too.
