exercise is not only useful for looking good and building muscle, it is also important to prevent potential health problems. obesity is common to increased risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, etc. so if anything, do it for a long, healthy life with your husband free of ailment.
i would suggest looking into some of the freetrainers programs offered here.. there are great beginner programs that arent too daunting, and have reaped success for others. the goals are reasonable to achieve, and will give you a solid foundation as to what to do at the gym.
another important facet will be changing your diet.. i dont know what it is like now, but getting away from high fatty/ high sugar foods will be the first step. this means no greasy mcdonalds burgers, snacking on joe louis', etc. try to make small changes here and there, like buying yogourt instead of ice cream, or low fat mayo instead of regular. they calories spared will all add up and contribute to your overall weight loss. hope some of this info gets you started on the way to healthier living. theres lots of support for anything you need offered here, so just ask away and good luck!
