I'm new to this site. I guess I just need someone to talk to. I have been dealing with an ed for aout a year now, and i just revealed it to my husband. I am 23 years old. I need some advice from someone who can't see me, and won't judge me.

I'm glad you are here, and that you can't see me. I am so ugly to myself right now. Everyone keeps on complimenting me though, and it feels nice to hear it. My husband recently accused me of cheating, because my attitude has changed so much, so to hurt him beyond belief, i finally told my secret. I didn't want to, but I just had to get it out to someone, so now everyone knows. He has told people, when he was just supposed to be helping me. I feel so betrayed, and now it makes me want to do it even more. I feel out of control and scared.:(

Have you seeked out professional help regarding your "ed"?
What is your ed?
Are you over eating or under eating?

I have bulemia nervosa. I am trying to seek help, but it is really hard to go talk to anyone. Plus, it seems that with my insurance, I can't talk to anyone without a referral from my doctor. Baby steps I guess.

If you have health insurance and you really want help, what's the big deal with getting a referral?

Its alot harder than u would think. I didn't know this before I made my appointment to talk to someone, and the psychologist did not tell me this, so it was really devistating to know that you can't just go talk to someone if you really want help. Everything has to be a process.

So now that you know the process for getting help, what are you doing about it?

Shouldn't there be some kind of free clinics for someone to go to? Everyone can't afford to pay someone 100.00 to talk to someone everytime they want to talk.

I am trying to talk to my husband to let him know what is going on, but he dosen't want to hear it, so I decided to make an appointment with a psychologist, but that kind of fell through, and on a sunday, there's not alot you can do except wait until tomorrow. It seems that the more I try, the more I fail.

Then why haven't you called your doctor for a referral to use your health insurance?

You have to see your doctor first, and this situation just snowballed right in front of me a couple of days ago. I haven't really had the chance to make a doctors appt. a few days ago, I didn't know I had a problem. I guess it just took telling someone to make me realize it.

Doesn't sound like much of a relationship honey.

Here are two numbers for you to call:

Bulemia/Anorexia Self Help Hotline: 1-800-227-4785
Eating Disorders Hotline: 1-800-448-4663

No cost help, balls in your court.

I will use these. Thank you so much. I guess it is easy to get free help, If you look in the right places, and someone is willing to help.

I hope you use those number that dfly gave you. When you are ready to actively pursue a healthy lifestyle, we'll be here to offer guidance and support. What we cannot be is a substitute for a good mental health clinician. Good luck!

I can say this, I will get better with or without my husand's help. I seems that he is trying to make me get help to relieve his own guilt. I told him how I felt, and that he was partially at fault for what has happened to me. He said," I wasn't the one sticking my finger in your throat." Come on. I need your help, and for me to get better, I have to first get out the way I feel. If it hurts to know the truth, that's one thing, but to attack me and make me feel even worse is another.
