Good for you for giving blood!

The avoiding exercise thing applies to all exercise, I'm afraid. It's because you have a smaller volume of blood circulating that you need to go easy, otherwise you will be prone to fainting.
This will be more of a problem doing a heavy workout (eg a legs split, or HIIT). You could probably do a gentle, steady paced cardio or an arms split (provided the venepuncture site is ok) after a couple of days.
The most important thing to get back to normal as quickly as possible is to keep your fluid intake up, as giving blood dehydrates you.

i'd lay off a day or so......in case you don't know when you excercise blow flow is diverted from other areas of the body to themuscle(s) being used. You have only so much blood circulating, your body doesn't make more during excercise lol. This is way you cramp after you eat and go work out, blood flow is divered to the gut to digest the food, if you excercise, your body needs blood for that muscle(s) (for oxygen etc) Your body fight for blood, and thus cramping.
Now say you work out with a pint less blood, theres a few things that blood HAS to be at all times. Brain mainly, brain needs oxygen and other junk. IF you work out, well the blood flow won't stop to brain, however sinse the muscle needs blood as well, certain parts might be neglicted or not get as much blood/ oxygen. Just think about it, be like me taken a gallon of gas out of yoru car, and not telling you with your gas gauge broke.

As the others stated, don't work out.
Your body is actually trying to recover from the missing blood.
Don't strain even more by working out.
Thanks for the blood.
