Hi,
I'm a (almost) 24 year old female. I'm 5'9" tall and weigh 174 pounds. My goal is 140.
I've been exercising faithfully for 6 weeks now. I do cardio at least 5 days a week and weights at least 3-4 days a week. Since I was already eating healthy, I cut back on my portion size.
After 6 weeks, I've lost 3 inches off my waist, an inch off my upper arms, nearly 2 inches off my hips, and about 1.5 inches off my thighs. But I've only lost 3 pounds! I know muscle is more dense/compact than fat, so that could explain part of it. But surely I should have lost more than 3 pounds by now. I'm starting to think I'm just imagining that the tape measure is getting looser! Does anybody know what I could be doing wrong and why I'm losing so many inches, but only 3 pounds?
Up until 4 years ago I was 15 pounds UNDERweight. I just don't see how it could be so hard for me to lose the extra weight now!

Muscle literally weighs more than fat. If you are seeing inches come off, but slow weight loss, it means that you are adding muscle as well as losing some fat. It's working like it should, so don't worry about it and keep doing what you are doing!!

And remember every pound of muscle you gain burns an extra 30-50 calories a day :)
