In which ways is training with a wide leg separation different from the normal leg separation while squatting?
(is one better for overall strength, different muscles targeted, etc...)

I already answered this, in the other forum. Hower also depending on length of your legs, how tal you are etc. will depend on how far, how close and all where you stand etc.

Squatting wide is more applicable for powerlifters. Narrow base is applicable for Olympic lifting. If you are just squatting to squat then find a position that feels most comfortable to you.
