Ok, I just really started to work out again. I'm 28, and it's scary when you go to start working out again, and your chest feels a little funny. Anyway, I've gotten past that stage, and am working out on a regular basis. I'll run down what I do, then ask my questions.
My wife and I do a Kathy Smith aerobics tape almost every day. We walk every night, cycle about 3 nights a week, and lately have started swimming, I would say 2 days a week. Now on to the questions.
We try to balance things for now, so that we don't fall totally off of our routine here. We have cut down sugar, but I still have 2 pepsis a day, and usually two or three cookies after dinner (oreo/chips ahoy).
Is this an acceptable amount of bad food? What are some better options for a sweet tooth, that will help my weight goals?
Also I have lost 11 lbs since we started, but most of it happened in the first two weeks, and it is staying off. Now I seem to have hit a road block. I haven't lost any more weight after two more weeks of exercise. So the question is this.
Do I need to step up my work out even more, and cut down my calories even more?
(I try to keep my calories below 2000)

Cut out the pepsis and the cookies. If you can't cut it out completely, cut the quantity in 1/2 and have that every 2nd day for now.
That's like asking the doctor if you should smoke!
Those are great cardio exercises if you are getting your HR up for at least 10-15 min.
About your calories below 2000 per day, that is not enough for a guy with your activity level.
Eat more, small meals , consisting of protein, good carbs, and good fats. You need to be getting in around 2700 cals to keep you going.
You want to keep your metabolic rate up, even after your cardio, you might want to incorporate the lifting.

Have you tried diet pepsi. Replace the cookies with some fruit or fat free/sugar free jello or pudding.

I buy Dole mandarin oranges/light - or you can buy in 100% fruit juice. Tastes great and totally curbs my sweet tooth.

I drink Diet Rite which is the only diet cola sweetened with Spenda. My husband even said he could handle it and he hates diet drinks. (The spenda tastes more like sugar than aspartame.)
