Heya Again Kaiaw
I'm doing the same thing to lose weight, I workout for 1 1/2 hours on my elliptical and I break that up into 3 30 minute segments, with first a heart rate program, then HIIT, then one of the two hardest preprogrammed workouts and I noticed alot better results when I started doing this, this week. I noticed you said you did 30 minutes ( 3 miles ) on the elliptical do you mean you cover 3 miles in 30 minutes? you might want to crank up the resistance on the trainer. I know with my programs I've never gone higher than 3 mph. Also i've started doing 2 a days now you might want to consider that if you can, it has a made a big time difference for me earlier in the week and helped me get good results. If you cant do 2 a days, try going a little longer on the elliptical, aim for 45 minutes if you can do it. That extra 15 minutes will really help your metabolism fired up...Well good luck this week, your doing very awesome! |

And good luck!! |

Not a stupid question, it is High Intensity Interval Training. If you use fitBuddy at the bottom of the screen to search for HIIT, you will get some great ideas about how and when to implement it. HIIT works wonders.-------------- Anni ******* Hard work must have killed somebody |

Thanks for the help everyone. Fitski- for the most part 2 a days aren't going to work- I honestly have a difficult time getting one good work out in every day with my hectic schedule. Yes- i do 3 miles in 30 minutes usually. I have recently upped the resistance- my goal when I did that was to maintain the same speed and I did. I will make it my new goal to add minutes though- at least 3 days a week I should be able to up it to 45 to an hour... Speaking of which I better get over to the gym! Thanks again!

I've been following an ft training program for about 8 weeks now and its going great. In general I do 30 minutes of weight training then 30 minutes (3 miles) on the elliptical 5 days a week. I'm a big girl- started at 283 and lost tons of weight the first 6 weeks- I was down to 262 after the first 6 weeks. So here's my problem- now I'm stuck and can't lose weight anymore. I've been extremely careful with what I eat and have upped the intensity of my cardio. I tried HIIT this week for the first time- figure if I do HIIT 3 days and regular cardio the other 2 I may get my metabolism up again- will this work? Is anyone else having the problems I am having? I'd appreciate any advice! Thanks!

Kaiaw it may be time to adjust your calories down to accomodate your fabulous new weight if you haven't already done so. The HIIT is a great idea.-------------- Anni ******* Hard work must have killed somebody |

Heya Kaiaw, Wow your a superwoman on that thing for sure!! good work doing that kind of speed. You'll be able to do HIIT no problem at all and mixing it up with the workout you do now would be awesome. I think i'm goning to try doing what your doing as well and really go for speed for 30 minutes in one of my workouts, hopefully it works as well for me as it has for you.

Hey Fitski- well I just got back from the gym and was able to really extend it today- I'm actually a bit surprised at how well I did. I upped the resistance 3 levels from where I had been at on the elliptical. After lifting weights I still did 5 miles in 45 minutes. Then I went to the bike and did 2 miles, then back to the elliptical for another 10 minutes (1 mile) doing the aerobic x-train. I'm wiped out but man it felt good. We'll see how the pounds come off though... Starting monday I'm gonna do HIIT hardcore. Thanks for the words of encouragement fitski and good luck to you!

Wow Kaiaw, awesome job on that workout, very awesome!! look at that, you totally have the conditioning to do alot more I bet!! keep it up, your on an amazing pace.
Also you might want to take some measurements this week, cause your gonna notice in addition to the pounds coming off your gonna lose alot of inches. I've dropped 4 pants sizes from a 44 to a 38 since starting, so take some measurements put them on an excel spreadsheet then compare them in a few weeks. Thats a big time motivator when you see your progress from where you started to where you are currently. I know for me that each pound I lose I get that much closer to my goal and that totally fires me up to keep working out and eating healthy. Keep it up this week!! |

well you've both motivated me to get my butt in gear with my cardio. Good job. I've been focussing on the weights and been a bit of a slack-a$$ when it comes to the cardio. i'm sure that's why there hasn't been much change in my weight. Thanks for the motivation. Please check in with us at the monday check-in thread. We can use some of your energy.

Glad we could help Prairiegirl- I was in the opposite position you were when i started- did strictly cardio and no weight lifting and got nowhere. It seems that doing both is the way to go! I just posted at the Monday checkin- gonna try to make that a habit!
