working the whole body there are allot of mucle groups involved in that movement.

They are especially good for the shoulders but they work the legs aswell when you clean the weight up to your shoulders.

They are great for the legs. They are mostly legs. Power cleans improve vertical jump because they help develop a powerful triple extension.

Ive been told that on average you shouldnt be able to power clean more than you can bench press, but this to me sounds ridiculous as theres about a 50lb difference in favor of the power clean at the moment for me. what do you think?

I think you need to work on your bench. We have 37 guys that power clean 300 or more. Those guys are all bench 365 or more. Most are over 400.
